The Pismo Beach Pier was still closed for renovations this year but the new boardwalk was a great place to check out the competition. With a telephoto lens one can still get close to the action as you can see from the footage in this video. The shots of the women surfing were captured from even farther back up in the Mooselodge parking lot about 50 more yards from the boardwalk. The Pismo Beach Pier area is very nice after recent construction and it makes a great place for holding this type of event. I didn't get much footage this year but the vendors were set up in the Pier parking lot where the awards ceremony took place.
